Terms of Service
Please read these terms before using X-Raye. They explain what the service does, what it does not do, and how decisions about your vehicle remain yours.
1. What X-Raye is
X-Raye is an AI-powered second opinion designed to help consumers better understand automotive repair estimates. It reviews documents and information you provide and explains what it appears to show in plain English.
X-Raye is an informational service only. It is not a repair shop, dealership, insurer, warranty administrator, financing provider, or licensed inspection service.
2. AI-generated content and its limitations
X-Raye's analysis is generated by artificial intelligence. AI can misread documents, miss important details, misunderstand context, and reach incorrect conclusions. Results may contain errors or omissions.
X-Raye does not physically inspect, test, drive, disassemble, or diagnose your vehicle. It relies entirely on the documents, photos, and information supplied by you or your shop. Where evidence is incomplete, X-Raye should and generally will say that it cannot determine an answer confidently.
X-Raye provides informational analysis and does not physically inspect, diagnose, repair, or certify your vehicle. AI-generated results may contain errors, omissions, or incorrect interpretations. Pricing, repair urgency, warranty information, and recommendations can vary based on vehicle condition, location, shop practices, parts selection, and information not available to X-Raye. Always confirm safety-critical decisions with a qualified automotive professional.
3. No professional relationship
Using X-Raye does not create a mechanic-customer, technician, inspector, legal, financial, or other professional relationship. X-Raye does not certify repairs, approve work, or authorize charges on your behalf.
4. Safety-critical decisions and your responsibility
We cannot confirm from an estimate alone that a vehicle is safe to drive. If you have concerns about braking, steering, overheating, warning lights, unusual noises, leaks, or vehicle control, have the vehicle inspected by a qualified professional before driving.
All repair, driving, and payment decisions are yours. You are responsible for confirming safety-critical matters — including brakes, steering, tires, suspension, overheating, fuel or fluid leaks, electrical and fire risk, airbags, structural damage, warning lights, and loss of power — with a qualified automotive professional before driving or deferring work.
5. Pricing estimates
Repair pricing varies by location, vehicle configuration, shop type, labor rate, parts selection, availability, and repair complexity. X-Raye pricing ranges are estimates, not guaranteed quotes.
X-Raye does not guarantee any repair outcome, any particular price, or any amount of savings. Pricing ranges are informational context, not quotes or offers.
6. Third-party shops, providers, and referrals
Shop information is provided for convenience. X-Raye does not guarantee the quality, pricing, availability, licensing, or workmanship of third-party repair providers. Confirm capabilities and pricing directly with the facility.
Shops, partners, tow operators, financing providers, and other third parties are independent businesses. X-Raye does not control them and is not responsible for their work, pricing, licensing, conduct, or agreements you enter into with them.
Verified Partner means only that a business has claimed its profile, that its business information has been verified, and that it participates in the X-Raye network. It is not an endorsement, guarantee, or certification of repair quality. Trusted Shop status is earned through repair history and customer outcomes and cannot be purchased.
Commercial relationships do not influence X-Raye's repair analysis, pricing assessment, confidence score, or recommendations.
7. Warranty, recall, and service-bulletin information
Coverage and eligibility should be confirmed directly with the manufacturer, dealer, warranty provider, or appropriate authority. X-Raye can only flag potential coverage worth checking.
When X-Raye identifies potential coverage, that means coverage may be worth checking — not that your repair is covered.
8. Documents you upload
You confirm you have the right to share the documents and photos you upload, and that they relate to your own repair. Uploaded content is treated as evidence, never as instructions to the analysis.
How your information is handled is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
9. Payment and refunds
Full X-Raye purchases are one-time payments with no subscription. Payments are processed by our payment provider; X-Raye does not store your full card details.
If an X-Raye fails to complete, or if a completed X-Raye is materially defective, contact support and we will review the case and issue a refund or a replacement X-Raye where appropriate.
10. Limitation of warranties
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, X-Raye disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. X-Raye does not warrant that results will be error-free, complete, or suitable for any specific repair decision.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, X-Raye is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost savings, lost profits, repair costs, vehicle damage, or personal injury arising from repair, driving, or payment decisions you make. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the X-Raye at issue.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify X-Raye against third-party claims arising from your misuse of the service, from content you upload that you had no right to share, or from your breach of these terms.
13. Dispute resolution and governing law
We ask that you contact support first so we can try to resolve any issue directly. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be handled in the courts or other forum provided by applicable law.
14. Consumer rights
Nothing in these terms limits or waives any right or remedy you have under applicable consumer-protection law that cannot legally be waived. Where a provision conflicts with such a law, that law controls.
15. Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the service changes. Material changes will be reflected on this page. Questions can be sent through the support page.
